Overview of Temperature Monitoring and Acquisition Products

Mavi Circuits’ temperature monitoring and acquisition products simplify temperature measurement for organizations by eliminating low level programming and design of signal conditioning circuits by being a drop-in solution in their systems so that the designers and testers can focus on the task at hand. The products are available in enclosures as well as in small size circuit board assemblies. The enclosed versions are available in dust-tight and waterproof IP66 housings, and the board assemblies provide flexibility in system integrations.

The products provide wide range, accuracy, high/low sample rate by implementing advance proprietary temperature mapping and noise reduction techniques that can be used in any application that requires temperature monitoring, acquisition, and control. The products use low cost thermistor temperature sensors which come in many forms of probes with various mounting options from Littlefuse that are suitable for wide variety of applications. Alternatively, user thermistor can be programmed as long as 10K Ohm at 25C thermistor with a J-Curve characteristic is selected.

The products provide temperature readings digitally in industry standard forms as ASCII data stream, binary data stream and Modbus protocol (command-response) via the commonly used hardware interfaces: RS485, 5V UART and 3.3V UART. ASCII data stream is in tab delimited format, which provides easy way to export data to a spread sheet. Binary data stream is provided for reading more sensors faster and transmitting data in a more compact form with error detection. Modbus RTU compatible protocol provides more advanced half-duplex command-response communication with multiple devices connected on a network. In addition to being a drop-in solution in embedded systems, the products can be used directly with a PC or a data acquisition equipment with all data formats. When the requirement is to quickly be up and running without any programming in order to monitor and log temperature data, ASCII data stream particularly becomes a great solution. Protocol mode of operation when used with the Excel Protocol Communication Tool that is provided by Mavi Circuits provides another way of quick and easy, no programming required, temperature reading and collection option. Operating mode can be selected with a switch. The devices are equipped with protection features such as 30kV ESD, current limited outputs, overvoltage protected inputs and reverse polarity protected power inputs.
